Lumbermen Associates INC. provides services as a wholesale lumber distributor and has been proudly serving the Northeast region for more than 50 years. A family-owned company now in its second generation, Lumbermen Associates’ products comprise industrial, fence, shed, and retail within the commercial, residential, and retail sectors.
FOUNDED IN 1964 by Coates Coleman III, Lumbermen Associates went through a series of mergers and acquisitions before becoming a privately held wholesaler in 1979, a tradition that continues on today. Coleman joined forces with Tom Deegan, Jr. to grow the business, and what started out as a broker of cargo lumber from offices in the Philadelphia area now has four major divisions, 80 employees, a fleet of 23 trucks, 15 acres filled with inventory, and a fully equipped remanufacturing facility in Bristol, PA.
Growth and profitability has been achieved by meeting the needs of customers and suppliers alike. The second generation of owners — Tom Deegan, president, Tim Deegan, vice president, and Tom Coleman, vice president — have not wandered far from their fathers’ formula for success. That family affair permeates the company culture, with most employees a part of the Lumbermen Associates family for at least 10 years. The environment is upbeat and positive with a can-do attitude to solving challenges because Lumbermen Associates knows that employees are a key ingredient to the company’s success.
